Since the time I was a teenager, I’ve been drawn to people and fascinated by their stories. I am constantly in pursuit of answers to the questions of why we think, behave, and feel the way we do. I’m deeply passionate about psychology not just out of curiosity, but because I’ve seen firsthand how greatly it can improve the quality of people’s lives.
I studied philosophy and psychology in my undergraduate years at Westmont College, and then received my master’s degree in psychology from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. I’ve had the opportunity to work in diverse, clinically-demanding settings: inpatient psychiatric wards, outpatient clinics, schools, church offices, home settings, and various non-profit organizations. I have gained the confidence to work with a wide range of clientele–from those struggling with relational issues to those with severe and persistent mental illness. I specialize, however, in working with depression, anxiety, life transitions, and trauma.
I believe that every person strives to find meaning and fulfillment in life, and I consider myself privileged to help others walk that journey as a licensed marriage and family therapist. My treatment approach is collaborative in that I work with you, the expert of your own story, to identify goals, personal strengths, and specific strategies you can employ. My hope is that you will find therapy to be transformative and empowering, giving you tools you can use throughout life.
My therapy is existentially-informed, person-centered, and evidence-based, with my specific approach tailored to the needs, background, and personality of each individual client. Every person brings a story, and I approach the process with humility, curiosity, and compassion. I am formally trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), trauma resiliency model (TRM), motivational interviewing, crisis assessment, dual-diagnosis, trauma-focused CBT, EMDR, and existential/humanistic therapy. I also offer Biblical counseling by request to clients of the Christian faith. I am a lifelong student of therapy and am committed to continually honing my skillset through ongoing research, training, and consultation.
I understand how hard it can be to reach out for help in the midst of a struggle. Please know that in reaching out to me for a free consultation, you will be met with warmth, empathy, and a non-judgmental stance. Let’s discuss your goals and treatment options`today to explore how you might find more joy, purpose, peace, direction, and fulfillment.
